About The Report

The report on maternal deaths 2020-2022 was commissioned by the National Committee for the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths in Malawi on behalf of the Ministry of Health and produced in partnership with the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Research Programme Maternal and Fetal Health Group.

We analysed the demographic and clinical information of women who died, determined their causes of death and held a workshop of key stakeholders to formulate and prioritise recommendations to end preventable maternal mortality in Malawi.
